This belief is what made me almost quit TM for good back in the mid-70s. The thoughts wouldn't stop. It's too hard, I thought. Thankfully, I kept at it (meditation, that is; I changed to a different form in the 90s). And it wasn't until I studied mindfulness meditation during the pandemic that I learned it was actually okay to have those thoughts.
This is one of the most profound, and at the same time easy-to-understand, articles on meditation that I have ever read, especially your discussion of the witness, something I've been getting more in tune with recently.
This story deserves a boost, IMHO. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on a subject near and dear to my heart.
