My dad was the nurturer in the family. And while Mom was a perfectionist and didn't know how to express emotion, she never called us names. I was the responsible one in the family so I did what I was told; my oldest brother (RIP) was wild in his teen years and settled down after he got married. The brother next to me, as I've said elsewhere, suffered from schizophrenia. My parents were in deep denial about that. He started showing signs around 13 and didn't get evaluated until he was in his early 20s after kicking someone on a bus. I guess all families have challenges to overcome. Glad you were able to study the subjects you were passionate about.
