Here we go again. Another Mercury Retrograde is upon us (12/29/22 through 1/18/23). You’ve probably seen a lot of negative astrological hype about this approximately three-week period when Mercury APPEARS to be moving backwards in the sky.

Some astrologer friends of mine even think that because I was born during one, they’re a piece of cake for me. Believe me, I used to have a “doom and gloom” attitude about them. But over the years, I’ve learned to REinterpret them in a way that allows me to move through them with a lot less fear and anxiety.

The Best Mercury Retrograde Activities

One way to do this is to understand the best kinds of activities to undertake during a Mercury retrograde, what astrologer Andy Bellati calls “re” activities — that is, any verb you can attach the prefix “re” to — including re-do, re-view, re-search, re-pair, and so on.

On the other hand, it’s typically not a good time to start anything new, but instead to REflect on where you’ve come from since the last retrograde (9/9–10/1/2022). Once Mercury goes direct, you can begin the new activity.

Of course, sometimes you can’t avoid starting a new activity during a Mercury…
