I know all about reactivity. If I had a middle name, that would probably be it, Patrice Reactivia Walker. When I was teaching my daughter how to drive over 20 years ago, I remember her screaming at a driver and pounding on the steering wheel for doing something she didn't like. I realized then that she was simply doing as I did, not as I said.

These days, the main way I've chosen to work on it is to recite the Reiki Gokai every day as part of my morning meditation. Then during the day, when I react (especially while driving), I remind myself, without judgment, to release the anger.

I also remind myself of what comedian-turned-activist Dick Gregory said about anger when he spoke at my college back in the day - paraphrasing, "Being angry is like carrying shit around in your pocket. The only person it stinks up is you."
